"When Your Heart Stops Beating" is the first single released by American rock group +44. The single was first played by KROQ radio on September 17, 2006. A remix of the song was released soon after.
The song has been featured during college football broadcasts on CBS Sports. It was also used in the episode Speed Demon on the television show Ghost Whisperer. More recently, it was covered by the German band Wir sind Helden as part of the iTunes Foreign Exchange single.

The video features the band in an abandoned warehouse where they play the song, during which crowds of people are shown dancing and couples are shown arguing.
The music video was directed by Liz Friedlander.
