"Lycanthrope" is a single by the band +44, from their debut album When Your Heart Stops Beating. It was originally released on the band's official website in late 2006, giving fans their second taste of new music from the band, after the airing of the rough mix version of "No, It Isn't", also on their website. It is their first single to be released in the UK and has been released on 7" vinyl.
The December 2006 issue of Alternative Press wrote this about the song:
- HOPPUS: I love the first line of the song, it says "I wake up at the end of a long, dark, lonely year/it's bringing out the worst in me." And it just starts; there's no intro, no build-up-it just goes.
- BARKER: I think it's a great introduction. There isn't one song we could start with that would reveal what the whole record sounds like. This keeps you guessing about what's to come.
